Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Man with Van Harlesden is committed to conducting all aspects of its operations in an ethical, transparent and responsible manner. This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking in our own operations and throughout our supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights, and we are dedicated to continuously improving our practices to combat it.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Man with Van Harlesden provides local and regional transport, removals and related services. Our activities rely on a network of suppliers and subcontractors, including vehicle providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, and outsourced service providers. We understand that risks related to modern slavery can exist at different stages of these supply chains, and we work to identify and reduce those risks wherever we operate.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
We have a clear, zero-tolerance stance towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to our direct employees, agency workers, contractors, and every organisation with which we have a business relationship. We do not accept any use of forced, bonded or compulsory labour, any exploitation of vulnerable individuals, or any practice that restricts the freedom of movement or choice of workers. Where we identify or reasonably suspect modern slavery, we will act immediately, which may include suspending or terminating relationships with suppliers or contractors and reporting concerns to the relevant authorities.
Supplier Standards and Risk Management
We expect all suppliers and subcontractors to uphold the same high standards that we apply to our own operations. Our selection and onboarding processes include consideration of ethical labour practices and respect for human rights. We seek to work only with organisations that comply with all applicable labour and employment laws, provide safe working conditions and treat their workers with dignity and respect.
We review information from suppliers about their employment practices, sourcing arrangements and compliance with modern slavery legislation where relevant. Higher-risk categories, such as labour-intensive or low-cost services, are subject to increased scrutiny. If a supplier is unable or unwilling to demonstrate adequate controls, we will not commence or will discontinue the relationship.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
To support our zero-tolerance approach, we conduct proportionate supplier checks and audits. These may include requests for documentation on labour practices, written confirmations of compliance with modern slavery obligations, and where appropriate, site visits or remote reviews. Audits focus on working hours, wage practices, recruitment fees, use of agency labour, and any evidence of coercion or exploitation.
Where non-compliance or areas of concern are identified, we engage with the supplier to agree corrective actions and timelines. Continued failure to address issues may result in the suspension or termination of the business relationship. We retain the right to re-audit suppliers to verify that improvements have been implemented and maintained.
Training, Awareness and Responsibilities
Responsibility for implementing this statement and related procedures lies with the senior management of Man with Van Harlesden. Managers responsible for procuring goods and services are expected to understand the risks of modern slavery in their areas and to apply our standards when engaging suppliers and subcontractors.
We provide guidance and awareness for staff who are involved in recruitment, supplier management or contract supervision, so they can recognise warning signs of exploitation and know how to respond. All employees are reminded that everyone has a role to play in identifying and reporting potential cases of modern slavery.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage anyone who works for or with Man with Van Harlesden, as well as members of the public, to raise concerns about potential modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be reported to management or through our internal reporting processes set out in company policies. We are committed to handling all concerns sensitively, fairly and, where possible, confidentially.
We do not tolerate victimisation of anyone who raises a genuine concern, even if it is not ultimately substantiated. Reports will be reviewed promptly and investigated where appropriate. Where there is evidence of criminal activity, we will consider referring the matter to the relevant law enforcement or regulatory bodies.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process requiring vigilance and continual improvement. Each year, we review the effectiveness of the actions described in this statement, including our supplier assessments, audits, training and reporting mechanisms. This review helps us identify gaps, emerging risks and opportunities to strengthen our controls.
As part of the annual review, we consider any incidents or concerns raised, feedback from staff and suppliers, changes in our operations, and developments in legislation or best practice. Where necessary, we update our policies, procedures and contractual requirements to ensure they remain robust and appropriate for the scale and nature of our business.
Approval of This Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the management of Man with Van Harlesden and reflects our commitment to responsible business conduct. It will be reviewed, updated and reissued on at least an annual basis to demonstrate our continuing efforts to prevent modern slavery in our operations and supply chains.
